Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines performing her adaptation of the Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee song “Doggin’ Me” at Superfly’s Lone Star Music Emporium in San Marcos, Texas on Feb. 26, 2016. Hendrix is expected to include the song on her next album, an acoustic (and harmonica heavy!) collection of blues and gospel covers and originals to be called The Slaughterhouse Sessions. Due out in early summer 2016, it will be her second album release of the year, following February’s Love You Strong. Both albums are part of what the independent singer-songwriter calls “Project 5,” a year-long endeavor that will ultimately be comprised of four separate but thematically linked albums and an autobiography.
