Texas songwriting legend and renowned cowboy troubadour Michael Martin Murphey visited Superfly’s Lone Star Music Emporium in San Marcos, Texas last Saturday to celebrate the release of his new album of “cowboy songs,” High Stakes — and to play fan favorites from throughout his deep catalog. Here he is performing High Stakes‘ title track (above) — along with his biggest hit, “Wildfire” (from 1975’s Blue Sky — Night Thunder) and “Alleys of Austin,” from 1973’s progressive country classic, Cosmic Cowboy Souvenir.
This was an amazing experience seeing a true legend up close. He is authentic and genuinely a nice guy to have met.
MMM is one of favorite artists…ever! My husband has performed a lot of his music since the 70’s and still sings it. He and our son were at this concert and were so excited to get up close and personal with Murph! What a treat!! I am so glad they got to go… He was GREAT! Got our “antique” albums signed! yahoo! They will be talking about this for a long time to come.
