Punk rock Zero, guitar-slinging True Believer, and life-long “Gypsy Son” Javier Escovedo closed the first annual Lone Star Music and KOKE-FM Dillo Mixer at Threadgill’s World Headquarters with a blistering set of uncompromising rock ‘n’ roll culled from his two solo albums, 2012’s City Lights and the new Kicked Out of Eden (Saustex Records). Accompanying Escovedo were guitarist Brad Rice, bassist Michael “Cornbread” Traylor, drummer Hector Munoz, and keyboard player Matt Hubbard. Here’s three videos we grabbed during the half-hour long set: “Downtown” (from Kicked Out of Eden), “Bring Me Down” (from City Lights), and Gypsy Son” (from Kicked Out of Eden).
